Sushi Iwa Clayton INC
About This Spot
Stepping into Sushi Iwa Clayton INC feels like discovering a quiet gem tucked away along the busy stretch of US-70 BUS. The space itself is intimate—small enough to feel personal yet lively with the gentle hum of conversations and the occasional clatter from the kitchen. While the air carries a briskness near the entrance, once settled, the vibe softens into an unhurried, welcoming rhythm that invites guests to linger over their meal without rush.
This spot quietly balances the charm of a neighborhood sushi bar with the warm familiarity of a Thai eatery, creating a unique crossroads of flavor and comfort. Here, the menu reads like a thoughtful journey through two distinct yet harmonious culinary traditions. You might find yourself sharing expertly rolled sushi alongside a steaming bowl of Thai Tom Yum tofu, each bite bringing its own story to the table. The atmosphere encourages exploration—whether you’re savoring the nuanced heat of a curry or the crisp freshness of seaweed salad, there’s a sense that each dish is crafted to satisfy both the curious palate and the craving for something genuine.
The pace here feels intentionally steady, allowing for moments of connection—between diners, between food and mood, and between the kitchen’s craftsmanship and your own unfolding experience. Staff move with quiet attentiveness, aware of the space’s modest size yet attentive to the ebb and flow of a gathering crowd. It’s easy to feel that even in a busy night, your presence matters, whether you’re arriving solo, in a pair, or with a larger party.
Though it’s a place where familiar favorites like General Tso’s chicken or crab rangoon find their home, Sushi Iwa Clayton invites you to notice the subtle touches—the way ginger and garlic blend into a Szechuan sauce, or the clean snap of edamame before dinner. These moments offer more than a meal; they create a backdrop for shared occasions and quiet reflections alike.

Went here for a birthday dinner so we had a big party. We had a long wait but when we finally were seated, they were very accommodating. Sushi was excellent, pricey but BOGO free. Very unique dishes with good portion sizes. Small place, cold air blows in which isn't fabulous but we didn't notice it too much once we were seated. Seems like it would be nice for takeout also, lots of folks were doing that while we were waiting.

Decided to give this place a try. Service was good and prompt. Food was not too bad. Has the calamari, shrimp Tom yum, Thai basil chicken, special salmon roll and the green roll. Calamari was a little overcooked - tough. The rest of food was good. I am unsure if they would allow us to choose the spice level of the food. But that would honestly be ideal if it could be done. Will definitely be back again!
